I am so excited to introduce middle school math and procedures. it is such an exciting time that is so full of growth. I have some exciting real-world projects planned to give students opportunities for hands-on learning and authentic application of our math content.
Our classroom is driven by the4 C's: Communication, Collaboration, Critica Thinking and Creativity. Please explore the 4C's page on my website if you are interested in finding out more about the 4C's and how the integration of all of these elements in our classrooms help us to effectively equip our students with the 21st century tools that are so necessary in interactions and the global workplace of today's world.

Grading Policy
Tests/Projects 50%
Quizzes/Independent Tasks 35%
Classwork 15%
Students will be assigned homework during the week. They will generally have two nights to complete the homework. If not, the due date will be posted in the classroom. Credit will be given for homework completed and checked in on, or before the due date. A student who is absent will get an extension equal to the number of school days missed.
Grades will up uploaded to Powerschool. Powerschool allows students and parents to view previous grades from report cards, as well as grades in the current quarter for each class. Please allow me time to collect, score, and post grades. If it has been more than two weeks and a grade still seems to not be posted or a grade was improperly recorded, please email me. There is no delay in the time that grades are entered and the time that they show up on the parent/student side.

Mathematical Practices
These are the 8 Mathematical Practices that we will utilize this year in class to become strong, mathematical minds.
- Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
- Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
- Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
- Model with mathematics.
- Use appropriate tools strategically.
- Attend to precision.
- Look for and make use of structure.
- Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
Organization
Students will need to have a binder devoted strictly to math as well as two one-subject notebooks (Classwork/Reflection) Many projects are on-going and materials will need to be kept organized and sequentially in a binder. We will use dividers to separate units and subject matter. Note taking will take place in one notebook for the year.
